In his years at university, Jason tackled the summer job market as a franchisee of a national student painting company. Here he won National Manager of the Year both years running, for outperforming in sales, production, and customer satisfaction. It’s also where he discovered his passion for business. Although, it was at a much younger age that it first knocked at his door:
“I never planned to start a business. It kind of chose me. In retrospect, I probably should have went to business school. Instead, I came out with a science degree majoring in Mathematics. If I were to give any advice to someone not sure of their career path, it would be to just do something, anything! It’s about getting involved and finding out where your talents lie. You will soon discover how to best create value in yourself and your community”.
Student Suds Story
Jason saw that there was much room for improvement in the ease and quality of student work. He set out to create a simple system that helps students gain valuable business experience without the risk. In the summer of 2006, Student Suds was born! To customers, we provide exceptional and affordable window cleaning, gutter cleaning, and pressure washing services. And to students, we create fair and rewarding opportunities through good pay, no cost business and work experience. This gives our staff peace of mind and allows them to focus their attention on customer service. We recognize that the success of Student Suds is based on a solid reputation. With this in mind, our goal is to fully satisfy both clients and student staff. Our systems are constantly under revision, to build a strong student brand in an industry where it was once lacking.
2011 saw our first major expansion. After providing seasonal cleaning service to thousands of Edmonton, St Albert, and Sherwood Park homes and businesses, we introduced “Student Suds Housekeeping”. Our professional, reliable and affordable cleaning services, now available year round for inside Edmonton homes. We hire part time students who love to clean, and we fill in the gaps in their school schedule.
In the years following, Student Suds pushed it’s reach further through various marketing efforts and business purchases. We successfully acquired small window cleaning companies in each of 2012, 2014, and 2016. Like the climate of Alberta, that of the window cleaning industry is an ever changing one.
